Distribution: Argentina; Bolivia; Brazil; Paraguay; Uruguay

Habitat: Forest and wooded areas, from lowland evergreen forest and tropical deciduous forest to temperate rainforest.

Diet: Small invertebrates and fruits. Occassional nestlings and eggs of other bird species, and frogs. Feeds on maize when available and other seeds during the winter.

Breeding: Sometimes co-operative breeder, with two or three young of the previous year as helpers, taking part in nesting duties and defence. Nest is cup-shaped - placed between 4-7 metres in the thick foliage of a tree. Nest made with twigs, interior lined with fine twigs and plant fibres, feathers, grass and leaves.

Clutch size: 2-7 eggs

Incubation: 18 days

Fledge age: 20 days
